Hull: What to expect
Here is everything you need to know before arriving at our Hull office for an appointment or drop-in. If you have any further questions, you can also contact us directly at hull@mesmac.co.uk or by ringing 01482 291190
You can book an appointment with us online at bookatest.mesmac.co.uk.
Alternatively, you can come to one of our drop-in sessions on a weekday afternoon from 12pm - 4pm. No appointment needed.
We also have drop-ins at many colleges, organisations and charities around Hull.
Our front door is usually closed. Ring the doorbell, and we'll come let you into the waiting room.
While you wait, we'll give you some short paperwork to fill out.
Once you're ready, we'll take you into the testing room.
Depending on the test you're having, we may ask you to take a urine sample or a self-swab. We have a bathroom where you can do this yourself in private.
A full sexual health screening takes about 20 minutes. If you would like to chat about anything else, the appointment may be longer.
Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea:
For this test, it will either be a self-swab or a urine sample test which you will do yourself in one of our bathrooms.
You will get your results by text within two weeks.
HIV & Syphilis:
For this test, it is a small finger prick blood test (no big needles!). A member of staff will take a small amount of blood from the end of your finger, and you will get the results during the appointment.
MESMAC is a confidential service. Your chlamydia and gonorrhoea sample will go up to the hospital to the labs to get your results, but no information goes on your GP medical record.
