Volunteers’ Week: The Big Celebration

Over 21 million people volunteer in the UK at least once a year and this contributes an estimated £23.9bn to the UK economy. Behind these big numbers is a big contribution.
These 21 million people are a shining example of how we can all make a big difference to individuals and communities every day from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support.
Here at Yorkshire MESMAC we couldn’t do what we do so well without our dedicated teams of volunteers. Whether it is helping our Testing Times sessions with reception cover, going to local pubs and clubs to do outreach or becoming peer mentors that provide much needed support our volunteers are at the heart of what we do.
1-12 June marks Volunteers Week and we really want to shout about how much we appreciate all of our volunteers. Seeing their contributions at the Celebration Event on 31st May really brought their efforts into sharp focus.
Of course we don’t need a special week to shout about how amazing our volunteers are. Every contribution is valued by our staff, our service users and our Trustees.
