Training

Yorkshire MESMAC has a long history of delivering training to a variety of professionals across Yorkshire, covering a wide range of issues.

Yorkshire MESMAC have been working with marginalised communities for over 30 years. All of our training has been created with our frontline staff to ensure that information is accurate and up to date, as well as representative of the communities we work with.

Our work across Yorkshire brings plenty of different areas of expertise, which we ensure is reflected in our training.

We offer training to professionals across the board, some of which has included: the police, social workers, schools care home staff, GP surgeries, NHS staff, local councillors and much more.

Sessions can be tailored to your individual needs, ranging from a one-hour session to a whole day.

We offer a variety of different training programmes, including LGB, LGBT+, HIV, Chemsex, consent, FGM, healthy relationships, risky behaviour, online safety and STI Awareness.

We can tailor our LGBT+ sessions to working with young people or working with older LGBT+ people.

We are able to work with individual organisations to meet your specific needs to ensure you get the most out of your training experience.

Training sessions are either 2hrs, 3hrs or full days.

We offer free LGBT+ and HIV awareness training to health professionals across:

Bradford and Hull.

We can offer free HIV awareness sessions to health professionals in Leeds.

Our focus is on reducing the barriers our communities face when accessing health and social services. We also work with professionals who work in social care, including housing, debt charities, criminal justice and more.

We also provide specialist training to education settings, including; primary, secondary, sixth forms, colleges and universities. This includes LGBT+ and HIV and sexual health training. We are proud to be delivering The Rainbow Flag Award to schools and colleges in West Yorkshire. We strive to ensure any and all organisations can receive our training in order to better understand the issues our communities face so if you are not listed above, please contact us to find out how we can support you.

Occasionally, organisations wish to receive training specific to their needs. If this is the case we can discuss this on an individual basis, please be aware that this may come at an extra cost.

Some of our training is accredited through the CPD Standards Organisation. Please ask upon enquiry whether we are able to accredit your training at a small cost.
