Leeds Survivor-Led Crisis Service LGBT Support Group Run by Dial House

We run an LGBT+ group every Friday 11am-2pm

This group is for anyone from the LGBT+ community, including (but not limited to) people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, asexual, intersex, queer or are questioning their identity. We are a safe supportive space where you can share your thoughts and feelings and discuss coping strategies, alongside other LGBT+ people. We look at issues around being LGBT+, as well as general mental health issues and how we can work with them. This group is peer-led so everyone who attends identifies as LGBT+.

The LGBT+ groups are also an opportunity to socialise and relax, and we head out from Dial House together roughly once a month to go for a coffee or to visit local places such as Temple Newsam. This is an opportunity for people who may not otherwise feel able or confident to make these kinds of trips due to discrimination and/or mental health problems, to do so with a supportive group.

How to access the groups:

Any LGBT person who feels that attending the groups would be beneficial to their mental health is welcome to attend, and the groups are self-referral. We work a lot with people who are in crisis and are able to offer support around this, but you don’t have to be at crisis point to access our group work. Before attending groups for the first time a new visitor would be invited to meet with a member of the group work team to go through what we can offer and our group work agreement.

For more information, or to find out about joining either or both of the groups, please contact our LGBT group worker, Malaika on 0113 260 9328 (Wednesday to Fridays only) or via maliaka.ibreck@lslcs.org.uk

All groups are held at Dial House, 12 Chapel Street, Halton, Leeds, LS15 7RW, which is accessible on the 40, 163 and 19A bus routes.

Please pass this message on to colleagues and any clients or service users you feel may be interested. We have lovely leaflets advertising our service that can be posted to your organisation on request, if you’d like some please let us know!
