Gay Abandon: LGBT Choir Community run group

Gay Abandon started in 1997 as the love-child of Jane Edwardson (currently our musical director) and David Burnett and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength.

We welcome any members of the LGBT communities who share the joy of singing and want to be a part of a community choir.

We proud ourselves of our friendly atmosphere and camaraderie built around our common joy of singing.

We rehearse every Tuesday during term time from 19:45 to 21:45 at a central location in Leeds.

Our first concert – when we were all very nervous – was back in 1998 at the Clothworkers’ Hall at Leeds University. Since then, we’ve performed more and more often, and travelled further afield, including concerts in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Berlin and Paris. We still get nervous! As well as big concerts, we’ve performed at various festivals and events.

Although our performances are a focus for our repertoire and rehearsals, they’re not the be all and end all. Some members choose not to perform – and few of us make every performance.

See the joining page of our website for details of how to get involved.
