Mental Health Awareness Week 2026: Announcing our new, expanded counselling service

Following a successful few years operating in Bradford and Leeds, we're excited to share the expansion of MESMAC's counselling service to Hull and South Yorkshire.

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week theme is "take action" - and so what better time to share some brilliant news about the expansion of MESMAC's LGBTQ+ counselling service!

The service offers six sessions of counselling, free of charge, delivered by counsellors with training and experience of how best to support LGBTQ+ people.

Our counselling has been available in Bradford and Leeds for some years, and we're now also able to take referrals from LGBTQ+ people living in Hull or South Yorkshire.

Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgmental space to reflect and explore challenges or difficulties.

Accessing mental health support can be challenging - and even more so for LGBTQ+ people who sometimes have to face cisheretonormative assumptions or lack of understanding of their identity while accessing counselling. We're excited to grow our counselling service into Hull and South Yorkshire, and for word to spread about the new offering.
