This is a social group for Gay and Bisexual men of all ages; their aim is to provide a space where Gay people can meet and be themselves. It is mainly non–scene, has discussions, presentations, social outings etc. They meet regularly on Friday evenings, usually at a venue in Leeds city centre.
LGC (Leeds Gay Community) was founded in September 1982 and is the direct descendant of gay groups which had been meeting since 1971. We meet regularly on Friday evenings, usually at the Yorkshire MESMAC office at 22-23 Blayd's Yard, Leeds, LS1 4AD (map at page end) at 6:30pm.
Our main aim has always been to provide a hassle-free space where gay and bisexual men can meet and be themselves and, hopefully, make new friends.
We welcome men of all ages, though as we are a long established group, most of our members are 50+.
Although we are a members only group, visitors are very welcome. If visitors turn up for more than three meetings, we invite them to join us. Membership costs £12 per year (£6 for non-earners).

DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, COFFEE EVENINGS ARE HELD IN MEMBERS’ HOMES, AND THERE ARE NO MEETINGS AT BLAYDS YARD. OUTDOOR MEETINGS AS BELOW.
Thursday 2nd August—MORNING COFFEE FROM 11 O’CLOCK TODAY. Meet in the café in the Stable Courtyard at Temple Newsam House.
Tuesday 11th September—MORNING COFFEE IN ROUNDHAY PARK TODAY. Meet from 11am at the Lakeside Café.
Friday 14th September—7 o’clock for 7.30 start at 22 BLAYDS YARD. Come and tell us what you’ve been doing this summer.
Wednesday 19th September—OUTING TODAY, TO YORKSHIRE SCULPTURE PARK.
Friday 21st September—ENTERTAINING EACH OTHER TONIGHT. Another round-the-group evening when we bring a recording, reading or item.
Thursday 27th September—FISH AND CHIPS AT ERIC’S TONIGHT, in Beeston.
Friday 28th September—STANLEY BAXTER TONIGHT. Geoff will present, from a dvd, items from this comedy actor.
Wednesday 3rd October—MORNING COFFEE AT 11 O’CLOCK. For the last of our out-of-town mornings we will return to the café in the Abbey House Museum, Kirkstall.
Friday 5th October—LIGHT NIGHT IN TOWN TONIGHT. We have decided NOT to meet at Nº22 in order to give everybody the chance to see what’s on offer.
Wednesday 10th October—EVENING EVENT BEING PLANNED. We’d like to meet up in town to have a look at historical lgbt* locations. More details later.
Friday 12th October—QUIZ TONIGHT.
