The workers at the Our Project are:
David Armitage - Social Support Co-ordinator
David Armitage started his employment as a Community Development Worker
at Yorkshire MESMAC in October 2000. Initially David was based at the York
office and then moved to the Wakefield site in June 2001, becoming the Local
Service Co-ordinator in 2003. In October 2005 David took up the position
of social support co-ordinator at the Our Project.
David has a Post graduate Diploma in Public Health and Health Promotion,
developed Wakefield’s first full time LGBT youth service and helped
organise Wakefield’s first ever Pride event.
David likes to get involved in social support services that allow people
to have more say in the type of support they can access and dislikes fear
based health messages that increase stigma, tell people very little, are
prescriptive and tend to work on the worried well.
