New Beginnings in Wakefield

A quiet revolution has been taking place in Wakefield. Begin - Living and Learning with HIV, have decided to become part of Yorkshire MESMAC Group of Services which, amongst others services, includes the Our Project, that works with people living with HIV in Bradford.

Rob, Chair of Begin’s management committee said, “This is a great move for all concerned, merging the back office functions means that frontline staff have more time to do what they do best, work with people affected by HIV. Staff and volunteers from Begin will bring with us over ten years of experience of direct service delivery that can only enhance the excellent work of the Our Project in particular and the Yorkshire MESMAC Group of Services as a whole.”

Tom Doyle, Director of Yorkshire MESMAC Group of Services explained, “We have always had a really close relationship with Begin, in fact we have shared buildings for many years, so we are delighted that we are taking our relationship to the next level where we can pool our resources and skills ensuring that we deliver the best possible service to all our users.”

“The priority for all concerned is to ensure that services are maintained in the short term and improved in the longer term. That is why we will be working closely with services user. I am particular eager to re-engage with those people living with HIV in Wakefield who perhaps haven’t used the service for sometime or who have never used the service. I am happy for any present or potential service user to contact me directly for a confidential and private chat. You can contact me on 0113 2444 209 or email me t.doyle@mesmac.co.uk
