Leeds Gay Community

Location: Leeds

Gender: Male, Trans Man

Age Range: All Ages

This is a social group for Gay and Bisexual men of all ages; their aim is to provide a space where Gay people can meet and be themselves. It is mainly non–scene, has discussions, presentations, social outings etc. They meet regularly on Friday evenings, usually at a venue in Leeds city centre.

LGC (Leeds Gay Community) was founded in September 1982 and is the direct descendant of gay groups which had been meeting since 1971. We meet regularly on Friday evenings, usually at the Yorkshire MESMAC office at 22-23 Blayd's Yard, Leeds, LS1 4AD (map at page end) at 7:45pm.

Our main aim has always been to provide a hassle-free space where gay and bisexual men can meet and be themselves and, hopefully, make new friends.

We welcome men of all ages, though as we are a long established group, most of our members are 50+.

Although we are a members only group, visitors are very welcome. If visitors turn up for more than three meetings, we invite them to join us. Membership costs £12 per year (£6 for non-earners).

Friday 6th October— TONIGHT IS A “LIGHT NIGHT” IN LEEDS. So we’ll be at Nº22 from 6.30pm as usual, with a view to having a “coffee and chat” evening so that Light Nighters can pop in and out as they wish.

Friday 13th October— HOW ARE WE DOING? Four weeks ahead of our Annual General Meeting (10th November) we thought we’d devote an evening to having a closer look at the things we do at LGC, and look forward to receiving some positive suggestions and offers of events at Nº22 and venues for other social occasions.

Thursday 19th October— EATING OUT AT LUNCHTIME TODAY at 1pm. The venue is Wetherspoon’s ever popular Hedley Verity in Woodhouse Lane—opposite Morrison’s.
